Joel is a Denver based stand up comedian, writer, improviser, & producer. His stand up act is inspired by his love of classic joke writers & club comics while also being heavily influenced by the esoteric work of contemporary alternative & performance art comedians. His writing tends to focus on finding humor in uncomfortable places such as his struggles with mental health, substance abuse, body dysmorphia, learning to embrace his fluid sexuality, gender identity & personal childhood traumas. What he values most about performing is interacting with audiences, often writing crowd work into his material, giving every performance a unique opportunity to make special connections with the people in the room so they can feel like they are truly contributing to the quality of the show.
